Fasco da Gama is indeed Nigerian. His style of music is known as Bolojo. Bolojo came from the Yewa/Egbado/ people of the fishing communities of Lagos and Ogun state. Bolojo initially was a very sparse indigenous Yoruba music but later on, musicians like Fasco da Gama and King Jossy Friday added guitars and other instruments to the mix and created something pretty spectacular. A former governor of Lagos state tried banning Bolojo music because he had been mentioned in one of the songs and felt disrespected. Crazy
