Tchico & l'International Orchestre "African Kings" (Congo/Benin, 1982)

Tchico Tchicaya, famous Congolese singer and composer, recorded this album in Benin with a mixed Congolese and Beninese band. Loubassou Denis "La Cloche" is on guitar solo, Danialou Sagbohan on drums, Gustave Bentho from Poly-Rythmo on bass guitar, Ignace de Souza from Black Santiago on trumpet and finally Miguelito made a appearance playing the role of a jealous Burkinabese husband on track "Sens Interdit chez Tania". Therefore this album brings together the finest musicians from Beninese music for an original soukouss music album.

Tohon Stan (1983)

With all due respect I have for Stanislas Tohon, he crossed a barrier on this album I can not enjoy, that of drum machines. However we find the soul and the spirit of "Tchink System"'s king. I confess I like this record.

Assa Cica (1982)

This album from Assa Cica is the latest that I know. If you don't already know him, I invite you to visit these link. His best album, also one of the best Poly-Rythmo's album, can be found on this page. On this album, edited by Libert label, the style is already part of the 80's disco influenses, but Assa Cica adopt a slower pace.

Vata Mombasa & Danialou Sagbohan

When Congo meets Benin results an excellent album from Vata Mombasa with Danialou Sagbohan on drums. Vata Bombasa was the guitarist and leader of the Lipua Lipua orchestra. This very nice soukouss album is haunted by Sagbohan's talent. It was recorded in 1983 and edited by Libert and Papa Disco.

Professeur Bylledey (1983)

Wonderfull and hypnotic title "Adieu Papillon" dedicated to Papillon, the guitarist of Poly-Rythmo's band who tragically died in 1982. Bylledey Guissey was singing a lot with Poly-Rythmo before returning to traditional music and its education. Great personality.
