C'est toujours un plaisir d'écouter le grand salsero Gnonnas Pedro. Ce disque est plutôt rare, je vous laisse l’apprécier.

GNONNAS PEDRO & His Dadjes Band (1983)

Sublime LP of Gnonnas Pedro & His Dadjes Band recorded in 1983. On side 1 we find a great afro-cuban tune, "Mimi Pinçon", composed in 1951 by Trio De La Rosa's band. "Le Cracotuba" is a french song composed by Olivier Roland. On side 2, we find two famous tunes composed by "Salsero" Gnonnas Pedro, the great "Von O Von Non" and "Man Won Wou O".

Sublime album de Gnonnas Pedro & Ses Dadjès enregistré en 1983. On trouve deux reprises sur la face A. "Mimi Pinçon" est un morceau afro-cubain composé en 1951 par l'orchestre Trio De La Rosa et "La Crocatuba" une chanson française composée par Olivier Roland. Sur la face B on trouve les compositions classiques du "Salsero" Gnonnas: "Von O Von Non" et "Man Won Wou O".

Gnonnas Pedro & His Dadjes Band (Gabon)

Gnonnas Pedro a enregistré ce maxi 45 tours au Gabon avec "Ses Dadjes Band". Un disque rare. On trouve sur la face A un rythme agbadja typique de l'ouest du Bénin et du répertoire de l'artiste. Sur la face B, Gnonnas Pedro rend hommage, en soukous, au président Omar Bongo. Je pense que cette chanson a bien vieilli et qu'aujourd'hui le peuple gabonais n'apprécierait pas vraiment les paroles.

Gnonnas Pedro recorded this 12-inch single in Gabon with "his Dadjes Band". A rare record. On side 1, "Le Vodjo" is a modernized agbadja rhythm from western Benin and on side 2, "Je voudrais te voir" is a soukous rhythm which lyrics honor president Omar Bongo. I think this song has aged well, I am not sure that nowadays Gabonese people would appreciate the lyrics.

Gnonnas Pedro: "Sweet Combine"

The "Sweet Combine" of Gnonnas Pedro is a tasty blend. On one side, Spanish and afro-cuban rhythms, a B-side English and afro-beat with, of course, Mina language lyrics. A medicine to be taken morning and evening.

La "Sweet Combine" de Gnonnas Pedro est un savoureux mélange. Une face A, Espagnole et afro-cubaine, une face B, Anglaise et afro-beat avec bien sur des paroles en Mina. Une médecine douce à prendre matin et soir.

Gnonnas Pedro: "Africa Tei Cuba" (1980)

A while ago, I posted the single "30 Novembre..." but it was incomplete. So here is pure and complete modern Agbadja rhythm which Gnonnas Pedro is the teacher from. I also post "Africa Tei Cuba", an album of very different music styles: Afro-Cuban rhythm, Slow or French song inspired by Charles Aznavour's music. A true musical care delivered by Doctor Pedro.

As always, his lyrics are on the governement side. Gnonnas Pedro was surely not a politic opponent during the years of Marxism (between 1975 to 1989). In other words, Gnonnas Pedro healed the body but not the mind...

Il y a un moment, j'ai posté le single "30 Novembre..." mais il était incomplet. Voici donc ce pure et complet rythme d' "Agbadja moderne" dont Gnonnas est le professeur. Je poste aussi "Afrei Tu Cuba", un album aux styles très variés: rythme Afro-Cubain, Slow ou chanson française inspirée de Charles Aznavour. Un vrai soin musical délivré par le Docteur Pedro.

Comme toujours les paroles de Gnonnas sont pro-gouvernementales. Il n'était sûrement pas un opposant politique durant les années de Marxisme (Entre 1975 et 1989). Autrement dit, Gnonnas Pedro soignait le corps mais pas les esprits...

Gnonnas Pedro: El Cochechivo

I think this album from Gnonnas Pedro deserves a better sleeve. Nevertheless, this Cochechivo, one of the best album of the maestro, carries his signature. It was recorded in 1980.



Ce vinyle de Gnonnas Pedro mériterait une plus belle pochette. Néanmoins, cet album de 1980 est l'un des meilleurs du maestro.

Gnonnas Pedro & His Dadjes Band (1979)

Gnonnas Pedro was also an actor of the "afrobeat" movement. Recorded in 1979 this agbadja modern rhythm single is, through its lyrics, a support of General Mathieu Kerekou's politic (back cover's picture) which was influensed by communism and make Dahomey become, in 1972, the Popular Republic of Benin.
