CRIOLO (Brazil/2014)

Once is not custom, here is an amazing band from Martinique: Difé. Created in 1977 by great drummer, singer and composer Alfred Varasse who opened the doors of modern martinican music. This album is excellent especially hit "Ki Moun Ou Yé". Recorded in 1982 the band made a brilliant tribute to Bob Marley on "In Syel Markey" ("Marley in the sky").

Tapper Zukie (Jamaica/1978)

Tapper was nickname given to him by his grandmother in his youth, while Zukie was a name came from his friends' association as a young boy. Their gang was called The Zukies. In 1973, his mother, concerned with Zukies' tendency to get into trouble, sent him to England. Producer Bunny Lee arranged for him to undertake some recordings...

J'aime personnellement le morceau "The Way of Jah", joliment triste et allègre.

Orchestre C.V.D (Burkina, 1975)

The Orchestra C.V.D takes its name from the label "Club Voltaïque du Disque". This N°17 from C.V.D's label was recorded in 1975. This rare album has nice mandigo tune "Volta Mousso". The rest is average reggae and soukous influenced. Welcome to the Club...

Safohene Djeni (Ghana)

The background to Safehini Djeni's music career is dated as far back as the sixties when he joined T.D. Quarcoo's Guitar Band, where he learnt to play the guitar. As variety is the spice of life, he later joined guitar bands like Akompi, Okukuseku N°1, Ahamano's and later Nyame Bekyere Band led by ace actor Seaboy J.N. Ebroni and feature prominently as lead guitarist and vocalist and also composer of their hit tune "Nyame Bekyere".

Ambroise F.

A new artist on Oro and as always: Afro-Cuban, Reggae, Funk and Pop music... Fidegnon is known to be a great pianist. Another great musician played on this record: Louis Wasson, from Cameroon, who also recorded with Sagbohan Danialou on this album. Please, my friends, enjoy "Nonvi Tche Honton Tche", a great latin tune...

Pozo Hayes feat. Ignace de Souza & Danialou Sagbohan (Ghana/1985)

This first album from Pozo Hayes was edited by Satel and recorded in Benin in 1985. Ignace de Souza is on trumpet and Danialou Sagbohan on drums. Here is the story of Pozo Hayes:
As a little boy growing up in Kaneshie, Nana Boake Ofori Atta, a.k.a Pozo Hayes, could not go out to play like other children. Virtually grounded by polio at the age of three, he founded companionship in radio set. His father, Aaron Kofi Asante Ofori Atta, the last Speaker of parliament in Nkrumah regime bought him a wheelchair when he was about to start school. The right armrest of that chair became the drum with which he supported his singing of trendy pop tunes at school.
At the beginning of his career, the promoter of Satel Editions invited him in Cotonou, Benin. Pozo Hayes elected to do the trip with Classic Handels and the gig was great. He recorded his firts album "Looking Over There" and since then, he has not looked back and can boast of eight albums to his name.

T.P. Orchestre Poly-Rythmo & Adjaho Coffi feat SAGBOHAN DANIALOU

This fantastic album was recorded in 1981 with Poly-Rythmo Orchestra. When I heard it I discovered that Sagbohan Danialou was singing the chorus and playing drums. Adjaho Coffi is known to be a famous comedian but also a great composer and singer. Some of the songs are purely inspired by traditional rhythms like Kakagbo. We can feel in those rhythms Sagbohan's arangements.

Ambroise Akoha

Ambroise Akoha began his career in 1971. He is called Jukko. He performed between 1975 and 1977 as Gnonnas Pedro's guitarist.

This is his first album, recorded during the late 70's. The famous singer Miguelito is singing chorus and different rhythms such as makossa, reggae, slow...
