Dear listeners, Danialou Sagbohan and his orchestra will be in Paris for his first european concert, after 50 years of career, at "Le Divan du monde" on 29th of November. So before his venue i will share with you some modern recording tunes. Let's begin with this incredible afro-eletro extract from "Lucky People Center International" documentary.

Baden Powell (Brazil/1966)

I discovered Baden Powell when I was 11 years old and he changed my life for ever. I was discovering a music on which you could imagine your own lyrics. Baden Powell has made of me the poet I am today. Baden Powell is one of the best guitarist ever. This album has been recorded live in Rio at Santa Rosa Theatre in 1966.

Orquestra Afro Brasileira (1958)

Before leaving the old world I propose this great music coming from the new world. Oro insiders know already this album which success forced me to remove it from the blog. Once again the first recording of Orquestra Afro Brasileira. Exceptional Brazilian and world musical heritage.

The band was born in 1942. They recorded only two albums in 1958 and 1968. During 30-years career, they only played hundred concerts. This first album foreshadows all Brazilian modern music. Afro Brasilera's charismatic leader is Abigail Moura who was the first artist to catch from Macumba music rituals rhythms and instruments such as:
Agôgô, Adêjà, Urucongo, Afoxê, Canza, Atabaques, Angona-Puita.
Abigail Moura was not initiated into African Orishas but he was proceeding Macumba or Candomble rituals before each concert. His music comes from ritual songs, African thythm, Jazz, brass band and much more. This extremely rare record is part of Brazil's greatest treasure.

Burro Morto (Oriki Music's last release)

"The Burro Morto afrobeat group members live in North East Brazil. A unique fusion between afrobeat, psychedelia & North Eastern Brazilian regional beats. Fast funky tempos, satured fuzz, long organ solo, sincopa parahibana: just perfect music for the dancefloor".
Grégoire De Villanova.

Liberdade (Brazil 2002)

"These two recordings were made in Brazil by Liberdade in 2002. Liberdade was en ephemerous studio group of 9 musicians, all born and raised in the Afro Brazilian city of Salavador da Bahia. None of them ever really had the opportunity to record instrumental music for a producer. When I came up with the idea of doing of doing a short recording session inspired in 70's funk, all the musicians fell in love with the project and decided to work on original compositions. The result is here, a raw, infectious, syncopated afro funk track & easier catchy samba soul. Hope you'll enjoy this very first Oriki Music studio production". Gregoire de Villanova.

I only put extracts of the vinyle. I invite you to buy this vinyl on Diaspora Records or on Itunes.

Tribo Massahi (Brazil)

This vinyl is rare and curious. Recorded in 1972, it has several styles: funk, rock, samba, theatrical dialogues and especially African rhythms. A very original stuff.
