KABONGO WETU feat. Danialou Sagbohan (CONGO/1979)

Kabongo Wetu is an instrumentalist and composer of Congo. He used to be part of famous band "Les Bantous de la Capitale". This album was recorded in Ivory Coast with Danialou Sagbohan on drums and Dizzi Mandjeku on guitar, Kabongo Wetu was the brass. Different singers were part of this recording as Ange Linaud, NIboma and Asi Kapela.

Kabongo Wêtu est un instrumentiste et compositeur congolais connu pour avoir fait parti de l'orchestre congolais "Les Bantous de la Capitale". Cet album a été enregistré en côte d'Ivoire avec Danialou Sagbohan à la batterie et Dizzi Mandjeku à la guitare. Kabongo Wêtu est aux cuivres. Les différents chanteurs sont Ange Linaud, Niboma et Asi Kapela.

African All Stars & Sam Mangwana (Congo/1979)

This record from the congolese African All Stars band was recorded in Nigeria under beninese Albarika Store label. Some members of the band have recorded many albums with different orchestras from Benin, like malian saxophonist Tidiane Kone (Poly-Rythmo) or guitarist Dizzi Mandjekou (Stan Tohon).

This album was really inspired by whole west Africa, from Ivory-Coast to Nigeria through Benin. Compositions are sometimes afrobeat, sometimes highlife, pure happiness.

Cet album du groupe congolais "African All Stars" a été enregistré au Nigeria sous le label béninois Albarika Store. Certains musiciens de l'orchestre ont enregistré de nombreux albums avec des orchestres béninois tels que le saxophoniste malien Tidiani Kone (orchestre Poly-Rythmo) ou encore le guitariste Dizzi Mandjekou (Stan Tohon). Cet album a vraiment été inspiré par toute l'Afrique de l'Ouest, de la côte d'Ivoire jusqu'au Nigeria, en passant par le Bénin. Cela se ressent à travers des compositions parfois afrobeat, parfois highlife, sublime.

Special thanks to DJ Balafon for sharing this rare album from Billedey Guissey backed by Poly-Rythmo. I have often talked about Billedey Guissey on the blog and I invite you to read the pages here. The special feature of this recording, from the early 80's, is the presence of the great Congolese guitarist Dizzy Mandjekou and the absence of leader Melome Clement. Why ? I do not know.

Je remercie particulièrement DJ Balafon pour cet album de Billedey Guissey orchestré par Poly-Rythmo. J'ai souvent parlé de Billedey Guissey sur le blog et je vous invite à consulter les pages ici. La particularité de cet enregistrement, du début des années 80, est la présence du grand guitariste Congolais Dizzy Mandjekou et l'absence de Clément Mélomé. Pourquoi ? Je ne sais pas. 

Mawuli Decker (Ghana, 1983)

Mawuli Decker a veteran composer, arranger and singer from Aveme Danyigba in the Volta region of Ghana leaves no stone unturned on his way to the top. The result of this is a smashing hit "Julie Dzogbese" released in 1975. After tasting big bands sounds with Caprice and New Planets Dance Bands, The Top and Volta Pioneers Dance Band. He set off on a tour some African countries a sprat of his laurels to achieve international recognition.

Today a step in the name of Ayo Special is taken. If this album fails to book Mawuli Decker a seat by your side, then you are yet to book one for yourself.

Vieux routier dans le domaine musical, Mawuli Decker, est originaire de Aveme Danyigba de la région Volta du Ghana. Auteur, compositeur, arrangeur et chanteur, en dépit des difficultés auxquelles sont confrontés les artistes de son genre, Mawuli tient à atteindre le sommet. Le fruit de cette persévérance est le disque émouvant "Julie Dzogbesse" paru en 1975. Travaillant d'arrache-pied avec Caprice et New Planets Dance Bands, Mawuli Decker devient le leader de Dzobi Sounds, Sawaba Sounds, The Tops et Volta Pioneers Dance bands.

Si Aujourd'hui, par "Ayo Special", Mawuli Decker n'arrive pas à vous émouvoir, là vous aurez à vous blâmer vous-même.
